Types of Heavy Vehicle Hyrail

The type of hyrail fitted to a heavy vehicle will be dependant on a number of factors such as:

  • Vehicle GVM.
  • Required rail gauge.
  • Hyrail suspension type.
  • Intended use.

Heavy vehicle hyrail systems are highly customisable and may be tailored to meet many requirements. Additional vehicle mounted equipment can be included as part of the build with interconnections between the different systems and devices being coordinated by Aries Rail.

Bogie Drive Systems

The Neotec bogie drive system is unique to Aries Rail in Australia and has been proven in service in several countries around the world. Allowing easy on-tracking of heavy vehicles at narrow crossings, the Neotec bogie drive system features a number of innovative features:

  • On-Rail travel speeds up to 70km/h in both directions.
  • Can reduce minimum horizontal curve capability to just 15m (with either two bogies or one bogie plus a steer-active front axle)
  • Permanent four-wheel-drive.
  • Anti-slip for controlled acceleration without wheelspin.
  • Anti-slide for safe deceleration without wheel lockup.
  • Powered rotation of the hyrail bogie during the road-rail transition phase allowing a single operator to on-track the vehicle.
