Aries Hyrail Land Cruiser road-rail conversion for standard gauge

Aries Hyrail road rail vehicles use a rotary actuator wherever possible, providing class leading ground clearance and approach/departure angles. Aries Hyrail conversions are available for a number of light vehicles with customisable options to suit almost any road rail vehicle.

Aries manufacture and install conversions for narrow, standard and broad gauge rail, all of which have an airbag compatible protection bar and comply with the very latest standards and requirements, including the new AS7502 Road-Rail Vehicle standard.

Some light vehicles are not suitable for a hyrail conversion due to limited front road axle capacity. Aries can easily convert the following light utility vehicles:

Toyota Land Cruiser – Including 2016 ANCAP5 version
Iveco Daily 4×4
Iveco Daily 4×2 – Including van and cab chassis variants

Toyota Land Cruiser

The current generation of Aries Hyrail Toyota Land Cruiser kit is the well-established industry leader with several hundred units manufactured and fitted by Aries Rail since a major re-design in 2012. The Aries Hyrail conversion is the only kit which, is independently approved for use on road-rail vehicles fitted with driver and passenger airbags.

In standard and broad gauge configuration, the road wheels remain in contact with the rail, providing braking and traction.

For narrow gauge use, the vehicle is modified to allow the addition of an inner pair of tryes on the rear that provide traction and braking whilst the front road wheels are lifted clear of the rail.

The standard gauge front hyrail is stored inside the original Toyota bumper providing a significant increase in pedestrian safety. On-road driving performance and braking stability is also improved when compared to traditional road rail designs.

The kit has been independently tested and approved for use on road-rail vehicles fitted with driver and passenger airbags.

The easily accessible emergency hand pump allows the driver to manually raise the hyrail whilst standing at the side of the vehicle.

High ground clearance and approach angle ensure exceptional off-road performance.

The Aries Hyrail control system is the well established industry leader, now in its second generation. The system provides safe and reliable control of the hyrail along with access to many advanced options. Positioned within easy reach of the driver, control of the hyrail equipment, acknowledgement of vigilance system prompts and system diagnostics are all carried out using the full colour daylight visible screen.

Optionally, a larger 7 inch screen may be mounted in the centre of the dashboard, allowing the use of hyrail wheel monitoring cameras and advanced diagnostics.

The compact rear hyrail ensures minimal loss of departure angle.

Other Light Vehicles

Some light vehicles such as Toyota Hilux and Ford Ranger are not suitable for a hyrail conversion in Australia due to limited front road axle capacity. However, Aries can easily convert the following light utility vehicles:
