The triple-gauge 20t Aries Rail trailer has a four-wheel park and service brake system that allows it to meet brake performance requirements in any load condition from empty to 20t, without skidding the wheels. This is achievable even with no load on the hauling road-rail-vehicle as shown above. Rail wheel brakes are connected to the hauling vehicle and apply automatically when the driver uses the vehicle brakes.
The rail trailer is available with either a traditional pivoting axle or spring suspension and may be used on narrow, standard or broad gauge rail.
This particular truck and trailer combination has just been delivered for use in a large tunnel project in NSW. The hauling vehicle features dedicated recesses in the tray to locate the trailer during road transport.
